280z Posted September 16, 2016 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2016 I recently got a dirt bike and I'm considering installing a tow ball or some kind of hitch on my '75 to be able to take the bike out to the trails. All the threads on this topic are very old, and the U-haul website which apparently makes one for the Z is down. I'm looking for something non-permanent that bolts up without welding or cutting. My Z is too nice to be defiling.
Patcon Posted September 16, 2016 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2016 I remember seeing a thread a year or so back about somebody who had a hitch on their Z, who was it?
Mark Maras Posted September 17, 2016 Share #3 Posted September 17, 2016 I don't remember who it was either but it seems it would be easy to design one that bolts to the tie down (tow hook) bolt holes. I'm assuming that would be a good attachment point for a light weight trailer hitch.
280z Posted September 17, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted September 17, 2016 Is this what you guys are talking about? It gives good clues to fabricate one, but it's for a 240 and doesn't provide the exact blueprint or product link I was hoping for.
Patcon Posted September 17, 2016 Share #5 Posted September 17, 2016 Yup that's it! No product link that I know of but if you print some of the pictures and take it to a local welder. They aught to be able to make it easy enough.
240ZX Posted October 22, 2016 Share #6 Posted October 22, 2016 I went through this exercise years back to tow a small trailer and dirt bike. Find a good hitch fabricator and it is certainly possible. But the limit is for SMALL trailers........its a z car!!!!
