Posted September 18, 20168 yr comment_503492 Howdy folks, I just completed the replacement of the oil pan gasket in my Z. Thanks to all the information posted on this site and on other sites I was able to accomplish this without lifting the engine. I just wanted to point out several things that really helped me out. Loosening the oil pick up tube was a big help. Using sewing thread to aid with keeping the new gasket attached was essential when wiggling the pan into place. The last was a 1/4 drive universal joint. I didn't have it taking the pan off, but I picked it up for putting it back on and it made doing so, so much easier. Cheers! ~MattS Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/56207-my-oil-pan-replacement-thread-completed/ Share on other sites
September 18, 20168 yr comment_503497 Cut the head off 6 pan bolts.......loosely install them in several well spaced locations......slide the gasket and pan onto those headless bolts......get someone to hold it up tight.......thread in a half dozen real pan bolts, then you can install the rest of the bolts....remove the headless bolts and replace with good bolts....Voila!!
