Emissions. Remove or leave on?

Andy,

Hello and congrats on your new purchase---very nice car!

Bit of a bummer about the overheating issue, but it seems you got that sorted out o.k.

Regarding the emissions---

Lots of owners remove them due to a non-operating condition and/or to clean up the engine bay for aesthetics.

If your engine compartment is mostly original and you are intending to maintain or improve the originality for any items missing, then you should definitely keep the emissions.

If that is not a major concern, then deleting the emissions will not have a negative effect---these cars do very well without the rudimentary systems used in those days.

I too have a '73 and have chosen to try to faithfully maintain it's originality. That said, it is not easy, as mine came with the flat top carburetors which are more difficult to service and maintain. I intend to eventually re-install them, but In the interim I am running the 72 3 screw type carbs without emissions.

Please let me know if you decide to ditch your emissions for whatever reason. Depending on condition, I would like to make you a reasonable offer that could help offset your expenses for whatever changes you make.

Welcome to this great Z car site!

I look forward to seeing more of your car and posts of your endeavors.
