Classic car insurance

Today I insured my '72 with Classic Collectors insurance by Infinity for $129 a year.  $500 deductible on comprehensive, collision and uninsured motorist with a stated value of $20,000.  6,000 miles per year total, I MAY put 2 to 3,000 on it in one year.  Very pleased with this.  My agent didn't offer Hagerty's but I don't see how there could be much difference.  Tomorrow I'm going to add my '77 and hopefully get a multiple car discount.  With the vintage tags at $10 each for life and this incredibly low rate I can't imagine selling either one now.  280 for the highway, 240 for around town. :)

Thanks for the lead Cliff. I was considering Haggerty but they were being pretty sticky about excluding my children from driving the Z.  My son, away at college ,and my daughter who hates my car and can't drive a manual.  No big deal really but it just kind of bothers me a little.  I'll have to check Infinity and see what they can offer.

Hopefully you won't have to file a claim with Infinity.

" Infinity takes a big hit in terms of reputation right off the bat when we pull up the BBB record for the company. The rating from the BBB is a dismal D, which is really low for a major insurer. It might, in fact, it’s one of the worst ratings I’ve seen for a large insurance company – or one of any size. "

I use Hargerty, who fares much better overall.

" Hagerty is not BBB accredited, but they do have an A+ rating. There are only a total of four complaints in the past three years, and there have been no complaints in the past year. For a big insurance company, these numbers are very impressive. "

I'm gonna shill for Costco, because I seem to do that whenever I can find an excuse to do so :)

Costco sells Ameriprise, and I've been using them since my wife and I got married almost 10 years ago.  100/300/100 with full coverage on all our cars ($500 or $1000 deductibles) costs ~$470 for 6 months.  The Z is only $58.  As an executive member, I even get free towing.

Haven't had to use them much -- I was in a minor fender bender several years ago that was 100% my fault (my rates weren't raised), a 3 mile tow, and a chip in my wife's windshield was repaired at zero cost -- but every interaction has been good.  Highly recommended.

I wonder why they aren't accredited with the better business bureau?  I hope I never have to deal with them but it makes me wonder why. I could hire one of the many attorneys available. Thank you for your input, I'll read up on that.

Could be a marketing ploy by Hagerty?

To receive BBB accreditation, a business pays an annual dues based on the location and number of employees .  Perhaps in the case of Hagerty, they have not chosen to pursue it.  I believe it is more of a marketing decision rather than a ploy.  The business model of BBB is to give a customer a venue to advertise their service and leverage BBB's 77% consumer brand recognition and its search engine optimization services.

http://www.bbb.org/greater-maryland/for-businesses/about-bbb-accreditation/

"BBB accreditation does not mean that the business’s products or services have been evaluated or endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the business’ product quality or competency in performing services.

Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation."

Honestly I didn't shop prices. My agent had Classic Collectors by Infinity and quoted that. They allowed a stated value and I was satisfied with the policy so I chose that. My term ends on 10-31-16 so I didn't really have time to compare. Maybe next year I can do better? My agent is really sweet and CUTE! So I go with what she suggest. LOL

I know Diseazed thinks highly of Hagerty and he's my Z Hero so I'll try and get them next year.
