hello all. just joined club. Still figuring out whats what.  I just bought a 79 zx. It had been sat indoors for about 12 years. 120k only

Put a new battery in it and drove it about 40 miles home. Will not idle below 2000. I cannot find any air leaks, the idle screw on the AFM is fully in ? if I let it out rpm goes to 3000 or so.  Before I start messing with anything, does anyone have any obvious things I should look at?

The idle is the same hot or cold, any suggestions welcome, Steve

easy stuff 1st check throttle plate not hanging up

then the AAR valve

Not sure about 79, but if they have it the BCDD check the BCDD.

down load a factor service manual and study the fuel injection system.
