The decision to sell my 240Z was not taken lightly, and I have some seller's remorse over it.  In time, I expect the Ferrari will probably go, I'll likely hold on to the E-Type for as long as I can.

Both of my daughters have called dibs on the cars too!!!

I love the e type as well, a lot of people don't realize that it's dimensions are almost the same as the 240.

You gotta love the interior, but Lucas electronics will keep you guessing....

BAT has had some beautiful e types up for bid recently. I quest for one was quickly shut down by the depth of my wallet...

I got very lucky when I purchased mine.  It's not a show car, but a very nice driver worth a heck of a lot more than I paid for it (and I wasn't expecting that, either).

It is very small, much smaller than people realize, and yes, the 240Z was very close - even more intimate I would say, but close.

Understandable if he's not a Z owner any longer.  Same happened with me - I sold my last Z and started spending a lot more time over at Ferrari Chat...but drop in here every so often to see what's going on!

Diseaszd is the guy in Virginia with the cool Z's and 510's.  I recalled Carl Beck after I posted, the guy in Washington (or Oregon) had a nice red / orange Z - good guy, moved on to a Porsche.  I think he's still here as I saw his Porsche from visiting the site.

Obviously Mike is still running the joint, also good to see!

Hi @rdefabri.  Yes, @Arne is still around but he sold his Z, to a club member in Norway, and purchased a Porsche.  He's still an admin on the site and still an important part of our community.  And, yes I am still around!  I haven't sold out or given up on this place.  I'm hoping the club will outlast my lifetime.

I read this whole thread, and being the car guy that I am, I could probably drive all of the cars mentioned here. As noted, I sold my '71 240Z to make the move into a Porsche, but I stayed with the air-cooled variety - an '84 911 Carrera 3.2 in my case.

Being active in the PCA now, I've driven several newer Porsches, and agree that IMS bearings not withstanding, the 996 cars are a great bargain now, if a modern sports car will satisfy your need. For me, they do not. Like an early Z, my Porsche is more direct and involving than a modern car. Incredibly capable, but still a vintage driving experience.

That said, I bought mine 5 years ago, before the recent price craziness hit. The current prices for air cooled 911's make the recently rising Z prices look really nice. And they can be expensive to maintain, unless like me you do it all your self. Sadly, classic 911's have left the affordable station, and it looks like 240Zs may be starting a similar trajectory.

I haven't seen any Z activity from Don in many, many years.  I believe he got out of Z's, but I'm not sure.  He was very active on the IZCC mailing list during the early years of the internet.
