Idleing on an incline problem?

This may seem stupid, but when i am idling on an incline (facing upward) at an intersection or elsewhere, my idle drops to about 700 rpm. Sometimes the engine even quits. I have no problems when I'm sitting level or facing downward. Has anyone else ever had this problem? (1976 280z). Thanks!

i'm assuming ur 280z is still FI right? have seen some carb'd vehicles having problems on inclines where the fuel falls out of the floats...

does it matter how full ur gas tank is? i'm thinking that possibly when on the intake the fuel is sloshing to the back of the tank and the pump is having trouble picking up fuel. the pick up is in the front side of the tank correct? or the pick up is getting clogged w/varnish/crap on the one side and having a similar effect

hope that helps...
