I have seen this sellers ads before as well. 

I tried to contact him through CL but never got a reply.

Normally he has a picture of a row on nice looking Z's and says he is selling restoration parts.

i will hesitate to use the word "scammer"

yes. i bought a hatch from him. when i handed over the $200, he said if i didnt like it, bring it back and get another. i had it sand-blasted, found some issues and gave him a call. he basically said too bad.

it actually worked out for the better. i found 2 other guys a lot closer, and they are straight-up. 1 of them has become a good friend.

 Yeah, "scammer" was over kill on my part. I've found the sellers with a large inventory of parts are frequently not as easy to deal with as the person selling one or two parts.
