wires dangling and minor electrical issues

Those wires should be fairly easy to figure out with the wring diagram.  The connector shapes are generally shown, with wire colors.  And the picture of a relay doesn't show the connector shape or the wire colors, you should take a better one.  And there are numbers on the relays, you should post those or search them on the internet.  Plus you should determine location of the connectors, using other clues.  Like the thick white wire with the round rubber cap on it (probably covering a ring connector - take a better picture) probably goes to the alternator or the back of the ammeter (not familiar with the back of a 72 ammeter myself).  Once you start locking a few connections down it narrows the possibilities for the other wires due to distance.  A short piece of wire can only be connected to something within a short distance.

Determine what you know, and share it, and the unknown will be easier to figure out.

All wires except for the solid blue female connector(behind hvac controller) are by the Combination switch.

Your questions make me think you have not yet downloaded the FSM's for your car.  Go to this link for the free PDF's and particularly get the '71 Supplemental manual - it has great details on all the dash wiring, including plug shape descriptions.

Me thinks jfa is on to something.  CZCC has the FMS's now too (we all keep forgetting).  http://www.classiczcars.com/files/

atlanticz has some stuff - http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electrical.htm

Insert obligatory comment about how today's tiny-screened super-phones do not really improve quality of internet experience. ____________________________

Sorry potholez but we have to get out humor where we find it.

I can answer some of those questions, some of these combinations don't make any sense but they are the right and everything works. The single blue/wh wire with the male bullet goes to the black/yellow wire, The single green female spade goes to single white male spade (sounds like dating site!) The pair of red female bullet and black male spade don't go to anything, tape them up. The 2 green/yellow wires up the harness a bit go the brake pedal switch, you can just see the brake switch in the back ground.

That single blue female bullet in the 1st pic of yours is the one I have been trying to get a pic of.

Thank you so much!! I had it just how you had it but I thought, no way can it go like this the colors are different.

Also those brake wires were all the way tucked away by my speedometer, I must of not brought it down. I had to remove my tachometer and reach over and bring it down, now the brake lights work.

Last thing, I jumped some connections at the headlight switch and got the headlights and the rest of the lights to come on. Everything should be good too go once I get the switches back.

These might help - mind you my car is 12/70 so there are likely some changes by the time we get to your build date.  The OE flasher on my car mounted to the steering column above the pedals.  I have since replaced it with an electronic flasher, it does not have the tab for a mounting screw.  I've also replaced the 4-way flasher with the same electronic unit - its tucked up into the wiring bundle on the second pic immediately below the tape wrapped harness.
