February 14, 20178 yr Author comment_512932 I had a 77 with the clunk that everyone talks about, no clunk in this one as of tear down. Things are starting to come together and are looking farely nice so far. The O'Rieleys master cylinder for the clutch was a touch shorter than the one that was on the car, hopefully that does not matter. Here is a finished pic of the trans. March 2, 20178 yr Author comment_514177 I had a lapse in progress but am back at it now. Everything is pretty much together and full of fluids. This is my one remaining part?? Can this be eliminated? I thought I read where it can be. I'm not even sure what it is. March 2, 20178 yr comment_514181 It's the pcv tube out of the block and the hose that runs to the pcv valve under the intake. I've seen a couple of high performance motors with them deleted so it's possible but I would run it if it were mine. I think it serves a purpose after reading a current thread Captain Obvious has going now. March 2, 20178 yr comment_514187 Haha! Well of course it has a purpose. It helps positively ventilate your crankcase. Your going to set me back six years and start back calling them PVC. March 2, 20178 yr comment_514226 I'm pretty sure it's neoprene. I don't think PVC could handle the temperature. it would probably melt. Hahaha!! My work here is done. March 2, 20178 yr comment_514229 I should be getting my 72 back from getting body work done soon, and pages like this inspire me to get it done right and with quality. Thanks! I might start my own, from shell to runner. No idea how long it will take - I'm in a driveway and I have a job and kids and a wife and kids and a job and wife and kids and job and wife. My work here is done. All kidding aside, Captain mentions something important in his post. You need to make sure your heat shields are installed on the underside of the intake or that hose will get too hot, turn brittle and break. Here's the best shot I have of the shields and the bolts. That red line is where the hose goes and the blue tape to the left is covering that metal tube that goes into the block. March 2, 20178 yr Author comment_514233 Everything is all back in the car except the piece I showed you. if I recall though the one little heat shield did not fit any longer because of the header I may be mistaken I need to check that when I get there I know we got the one heat shield in correctly the big one. March 2, 20178 yr comment_514236 Well, a few reasons - we are between houses - remodeling one, renting another, so paying rent and mortgages puts a crimp on budgets. Second, it was just basketball season. But spring is almost here, and things are looking up.
