Can anyone tell me how the crankcase vent tube mounts to the block.  Mine fell out when we were taking the block out of the cleaning tank.  Is it soldered in place or just a press fit.

Press fit. You should not be able to push it or take it out by hand. It's tight. You can use something like bearing retainer compound like LocTite 609 to help keep it in if its not really snug.

If it's loose, expand the tube a small with a taper plug. Sometimes a close fitting socket can be used to flare the end a tiny amount. Then use the Loctite Stud Lock.
