I run 3" mandrel bent all the way to the rear then split it into twin 60mm at the Reinhard muffler. 

It must get fairly warm, the tips changed colour after the first track day.

Not sure what the flow rates are when comparing 3" with twin 60mm.

The other thing is a 320bh s50b32 does it on less than 63mm pipework.  I’ve a z3m coupe centre in my garage to measure

I had a set of S50B32 headers here to compare (you know why Franky) : 

38mm primary pipes (makes me laugh when people say they 'must' have 44s, 48s, 50s for their Z!) and twin 50mm secondaries.

That's cute - what does a Reinhard muffler cost these days ? How long is it overall and also just the 'box' please ?

so many variables.  the sb50b32 is a good setup though.  for that application.

Reinhard stopped selling them separately after I got this in 2013. A few Aus guys tried buying them but they would only sell the entire system.

My 'JDM' muffler of which the 'box' is 380mm long with a 100mm long entry pipe.

Exit pipes are 180mm long (top) and 150mm (lower) at maximum lengths (on the top of each tube).

would it be a fair guess that the 2 U indentations were designed when a twin outlet exhaust was considered(either side of the car).

No, I don't think that Nissan would have left that detail in if unused. Much more likely to have allowed the use of the 'Z432' twin-pipe system as a JDM sports-option for L-series engines.

Sean, have you looked at Helmholtz resonators, H joints, or 1/4 wave devices to further tune or improve the exhaust systems?

What are these two, Sean? The one on the left is aftermarket. Looks like a stainless Spirit Garage item to me. The one on the right looks like one of the old MSA systems.
