February 1, 20178 yr comment_511526 Wheee! Was that in a running car or a barn find?Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobileIt was sitting for about 15 years like that. And then I started it and it ran normal... ON THAT GAS!!! I thought the tank was empty because the gauge was on empty. Of course it was corroded solid. The tank was 7/8th full of that cappuccino cocktail. February 1, 20178 yr comment_511528 Unfortunately my brake and clutch fluid suffered from severe incontinence. No idea how dirty they were before they ate my floor... February 1, 20178 yr Author comment_511553 The fuel story is incredible - I didn't know varnish was that flammable! Although it may be a testament to the reliability (?) of the Z and SU's. My clutch reservoir had a thick black film over the bottom half. February 1, 20178 yr comment_511554 I can't believe I got it to run either. I have a video somewhere in my blog with it running. Blew my mind when I drained the tank. February 1, 20178 yr comment_511555 I was thinking the same thing. I can't believe it actually ran on that stuff!! I ran my 260 for a little bit on the old stuff from the tank and it left this very sticky residue all over the insides of the carbs and intake manifolds. After five minutes of running, the throttle butterflies got sticky and would hang up just from the glue. Gross.
