I should've bought a new can of stain instead of using some really old one... It turned nearly clear today leaving my wheel looking like only clear coated.

Now. I've got the sight glass and it seems like my float level is alright. I have that one checked from the list. The car would still idle high. We're talking about nearly 3000 with all throttle linkage and opener adjustments backed out. I am sure that the butterfly valves are closing properly. What are the possibilities? Vacuum leak? Valve lash? I have a O2 sensor temporarily strapped to the end of my exhaust header. It seems like I can get around 14:1 AFR. But the reading jumps around. Now the car won't rev itself then die. It just idles really high. Any input is welcome. I'm eager to get it running right.
