Posted February 13, 20178 yr comment_512816 Picked up a dirt cheap 76 280z runner/driver. Always liked these cars so why not add another project to the pile. Needs some body work, but i'm not going for show car. this will end up just being a cool looking driver. I will be making or buying some new frame rails as one is pretty much toast. Also do the floor pans at the same time. Have the stock tank out, was all bashed in and not too clean. So I will be dropping in a fuel cell in place of the spare tire. Also have all the EFI/harness and stock manifold off it. Planning to go 4barrel carb and a new header and 2.5" exhaust. Just trying to have fun with this build so there will be some different ideas and creative touches along the way. Came with 4 new tires to throw on the old turbines, which will work fine for now. hopefully get some coilovers on it at some point as well. Just a few pictures of the start, update more as I get stuff done! February 13, 20178 yr Author comment_512827 here are a few more pictures of the car and where I am at on motor work. I wish the bottoms of the seats were like the rest, maybe can have someone re-do them one day. As you may be able to see its a ATK engine so at some point someone through that in here. Also anyone know what these sockets are for? found them in the tool compartments.   Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/57053-ratty-2eighty/#findComment-512827 Share on other sites
February 13, 20178 yr comment_512831 The sockets look like locking wheel nut sockets, looks like a good starting point, the car seems pretty solid. Is that an off road dragster in the back ground? February 14, 20178 yr Author comment_512834 thinking that too, but the grooves don't go all the way down so I was thinking they might be for something else. It's got some typical floor issues, but I'll get that done easy enough. That is actually a Ford Ranger that is built like a prerunner/desert truck. It is also down for a full rebuild/engine swap and cage. looks a little different when not in a million pieces  Need to get that farther along so I can gain some more space too.
