It's fake. There was a similar ad posted for Rockford a week or so ago. They then raised price to $15k saying they underestimated value. I'm not sure why they would post a fresh ad asking for $4k again if it was really

Definitely a scam.  This same ad was recently posted in the Lancaster PA CL and just pulled for fraud.  The poster claims to be a female military officer in Hawaii with the car stored in the US at a base.

I think the scam on the CL ads is getting good email address to sell thousand's to some company for spam.

100%!

I made a temporary email for the 240 I recently sold.  I went to pay the cable/internet bill afterwords and had 42 emails from resort rental web site.  It is now nonexistent.

Sounds a lot like this one from late Nov. but with a new car for bait. 

 

        I am a LT of USAF and  I was transferred to Hickam AFB in HI for a 5 years period and because they cant ship all my cars here i am asking only $4,000 for this one.
     My Datsun is garaged at the Logistic Department at Fairchild AFB  ready to go. No rust, garage kept,no accidents,clear title under my name. The shipping will be free for you because I will transport the car using a military trailer.  The financial part will be managed by eBay Motors, which means you will have a 5 days inspection period BEFORE committing to buy my car. In this way we are covered during the steps of this transaction.

Yeah, who would list the car on Craigslist and then use eBay Motors to handle the financial part of the transaction?  Doesn't make any sense.

True enough, eBay Motors does not conduct business outside of an eBay transaction. I told her to have the car delivered and I would pay cash. No response. 

I suppose the scam works sometimes, or else why would they keep posting these ads?

CL = deal in person  /  eBay = deal within eBay.
