Pros:  Car has been in Murrieta, CA from 1993 unitl 2010; Texas until 2016.  Been in TN for one year.  3.1 stroker setup with 1000 miles since build.  Z Therapy carbs with needle setup for 3.1 stroker engine.  Light wire harness relay upgrade.  Z Specialists 125 amp alternator.  S2000 seats.  Innovate O2 wideband.  Cold air intake.  79 280zx 5 speed that was overhauled 2014.  Fuel pump inertia cutoff switch.  USB wired in glove box.  Floor pans are solid.  Floor from firewall to rear was primed and then Fatmat installed.  Toyota 2 piston calipers with 15/16 master cylinder.  Just replaced clutch master cylinder.

Cons:  Front end is loose.  Rod ends were replaced in 2011 so I am thinking the rack and pinion needs reworked.  The paint job was done in 1993 and showing its age. A few rust bubbles on the top of hatch.  No rust inside the rear hatch area.  A few dings underneath from idiot at tire shop not hitting the jack point.  Speedometer needle doesn't move.  Odometer works.

The stroker engine setup:
N42 block  L28 293547 overbore 3mm
KA24E PISTONS ITM RY6660 CUT .5mm by machine shop
N42 head mildly ported and polished; gasket matched
Cosmetic head gasket 1.2mm
Isky  L480 cam 480 lift 280 duration
71 240z connecting rods
MSA 6-1 header
2 ½ “ Magnaflow exhaust
Canon Intake
1979 280zx distributor  welded to 15 degree max advance (15 idle to 30 @ 3500 rpm).  Vacuum plugged.
MSD 6AL and MSD tach adapter
3 ohm Petronix flamethrower
Taylor 8mm spark plug wires

My guess is that the motor is worth 8 to 10 thousand.....get rid of that ridiculous hood and it'll look civilized too!

Funny I love the hood!  That center peice is worth a couple hundred bucks.

Is there an electric fuel pump even with the mechanical one? GLWS. I think it should sell pretty quick.

Dave Rebello will built that engine for around $7,800 with not core parts, if I am not mistaken. I would like to know what the dyno output is on this engine. Looks like a good deal if that is the style Z you are interested in.

Pretty darn close, ask me how I know.  My motor is very close except for the cam (Rebello custom vs Isky) and Dave estimates it a 285hp+ on SU's and he claims 300+ on triples.

Sounds good, I am considering having Dave build me a 2.7 stroker (purist engine) using my numbers matching engine. He suggested I go for the 3.1 and sit my engine aside. This is how I have some Idea of the cost. Still undecided, but have all summer to consider it. JLP

That much money with only mild port work?  I don't see it.  With those carbs, that camshaft, so little headwork, and a so-so exhaust, I can't see the engine putting out much more than 200hp.  There is value in the short block due to the large bore and v07 crank, but with cheap ITM cast pistons, it's not exactly a Rebello block.

If selling used, I'd think it would go for maybe $3k.

If it was fully ported, forged pistons, triple Mikuni carbs, a proper performance header, and a dyno sheet showing what it puts out, then $6k, maybe a little more.

All of this said, at $12,000 it's a very nice, and solid, looking car at a great price.  Should sell quickly!
