So glad you got it done Diseazed and with no damage to the tubes.  Goes to show, sometimes you got to leave it to the pros.

You had the best advice of all Hardway.....when you run into particular problem, or a project is going downhill, just walk away! Patience is not my long suit, but there is a right way and a wrong way.....taking it to the machine shop was definitely the right way in this case.........BTW....I ordered a 24 inch long handled adjustable wrench off of Amazon....it opens to 2 1/2 inches.....front struts "be very afraid"!

Update.....Bought a new weapon....I love Amazon.

The photo above gives me an idea, I think we have to start measuring tools by how many "beers long" they are or their weight in "beers".... sort of like horses and hands.

Success!!!!   All's well that ends well. I didn't put em upside down and didn't forget the bump stops. Also, I installed new inner and outer control arm bushings, new stainless brake lines and new brake hoses. Ready to go back together....every project is an exciting venture.....ain't we lucky!
