So, winter here in Wisconsin has been on and off. This weekend it is somewhat off, cold but no snow. A few weeks back I was getting ready to put up an additional two fluorescent 8ft fixtures in the shop/garage (total of 11 fixtures). As usual I got side-traced with the ol' internet. I found a company (eLEDlighting.com) that sold replacement LED kits. What caught my eyes on these were magnetic! You gut your existing fixture of the  ballast and tube fixtures. Wire in their power-pak, close up the fixture and then attach the LED strips and your done!

I though did it different. I removed all of the fluorescent fixtures and instead attached them directly to my ceiling, key thing is my entire garage/shop is lined with white steel siding. What a difference these lights make! Each LED strip emits light 120 degrees and each assembly emits 6500 lumens in a cold white light. Some of you may be wondering what the cost is? At first I thought they were too expensive at $95/ea but when you look at the expense of a cold start 8ft fixture at $65 (without bulbs) and a box of 10 bulbs is $45 (4500 lumens) and with 9 (potentially 11 fixtures) I would need a second box, the cost was very comparable.

Anyway attaching a couple of picture with the LEDs up and on.

The. "Eledlghting.com" domain is for sale. Their website is therefore toast as likely is the company unless they just did a name change.

Sure you have the URL correct?

Space yes, but come the dog days of summer I like turning on the ol"AC, too!

Now don't rub it in! I may be old, but I'm always up for adoption. I'll do my chores, sleep in the shed won't speak until spoken to!

Well if you want to build (2) 71 you can stay in the shop with no problems. I would even make sure the heat is on when it's 29 below.
