Great reminder of a long gone era when "pump jockeys" would fill the tank with 23 cent per gallon gas, check the oil, clean the windshield, and sweep put the floor with a little wisk broom while you sat in the driver's seat getting three one dollar bills out of your wallet to pay for the gas.

The yankees asked for a "Phillip". Always in a hurry.ROFL

"Put a tiger in your tank" was Esso, Cliff. They gave away "Tiger tails" that you hung around the gas cap or out your gas cap filler door so they could flap in the breeze and show you had used Esso gas.

My favorite though was to "Fill your tires with Pink air", a Fina promo in the 60's.

Always loved "Dino" the green dinosaur which was Sinclair's brand mascot.

Anyhoo----my 9/10 cent contribution to this thread!

We have a small farming college here that still gives those out. Most people hang them off their trunk latch though.  Auburn Tigers. Most of the students live in trailer parks, seriously.

EDIT:

I need to get that right, they have a huge campus and room for trailer parks plus it's much cheaper than living anywhere near the Square.  There's some super nice condos in that area. I've had some good times down on the plains, as we say.  They're not as Greek oriented as the University of Alabama, come one come all in Auburn. Not so friendly in Tuscaloosa.
