The fuel in your tube should be level or even with the top of that rectangular square in this photo. The green arrow points down to a red line on bottom. In between 2 red lines that say "23mm". The lowest red line in that photo. If it is not there yet i will need to bend the tab slightly. April 5, 20205 yr comment_596438 Bend it down towards the float for more fuel. Make it look like speed bump. Not a ramp. Plus you can run the engine with them on the carbs and see how the float level reacts to RPM. I use a 14mm (9/16) bolt to measure the level, gives me a nice little handle. April 5, 20205 yr comment_596447 How do you get the 14mm from the bottom? Edit. I'm sure it's just proper math. Please disregard. April 5, 20205 yr comment_596448 It is 14mm from the top of the float sync aluminum base up the clear tube. Like shown in both pic's ^^ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/57733-checking-correct-fuel-level-at-round-top-3-screw-su-carbs-float-bowls/?&page=8#findComment-596448 Share on other sites
April 5, 20205 yr comment_596452 This is a job for an nice tight o-ring and/or a sharpie to mark that 14mm line on the tubes. Maybe some thin pin stripe tape? What the heck won’t wash off with gas though? Oring is fine, but it can move.... Set it then crazy glue it? Use a square cross section o-ring? Maybe turn a shallow groove in the tube? Just enough to leave a mark.  Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/57733-checking-correct-fuel-level-at-round-top-3-screw-su-carbs-float-bowls/?&page=8#findComment-596452 Share on other sites
April 5, 20205 yr Author comment_596453 I dont have the pair of float syncs yet. I am using clear plastic tubes so i guess im looking for 23mm down from the lid. April 6, 20205 yr comment_596470 Jim (zKars), I etched a slight groove around the Float-sync at 14 mm above each block with a mini tube cutter, works great! April 6, 20205 yr comment_596485 Please be advised that the new Float-Syncs have glass, not plastic site glasses. Be careful etching a groove as they may be prone to break along that line. I actually like the "O"ring idea. If they're thin and tight they should stay put.
