My new 1976 280z project

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure it'll have an N47 intake and cylinder head with that EGR and BPT valve in your pictures too.  There was a factory recall for certain vin numbers n the Egr coupling I can post in the morning. Mine didn't have the "fix" done and it rotted a golf ball size hole under my intake, causing a tremendous vacuum leak that I chased my tail with and bugged the hell out of the members on here when I first joined the party. I'll get that info to you asap but I'm about to shut down for tonight. Back tomorrow though. 8^)

Welcome aboard!

Let me help you out by making your car one year newer. Poof!!  It's now a 77, not a 76.

My work here is done.  :)

You should change your name to Houdini! Can you make all of mine 69s? Please!

Chuck

CO noticed the bumper rubber and the hood vents, signs of 1977.  My comment was about the major changes in the body parts from 76 to 77, but confimring what CO noted.  For example, if you buy 1976 door parts for your car they probably won't fit.  Many other parts aren't' the same either.
You probably looked at the stamp on the door jamb, that had a 1976 year on it.  But that's the build date, not the model year.  Nissan, and most car makers, start building their model years ~6 months ahead of the actual model year.
Anyway, your car is probably a 1977 280Z.  What does the title show?
We're not trolling, just steering...

I'll check the door jamb tomorrow, the hood and the bumpers are not original

Would you consider making it a '78 ?

Haha!! You know, right after posted the claim about 77, I was thinking the exact same thing and was thinking someone may bring that up!

However, looking at the pic of the engine compartment, it appears to have the 77 PCV hose routing, so barring higher res pics of the engine, I (got lucky and) stand by the claim of 77.
