June 13, 20177 yr Author comment_522996 Haha!! You know, right after posted the claim about 77, I was thinking the exact same thing and was thinking someone may bring that up! However, looking at the pic of the engine compartment, it appears to have the 77 PCV hose routing, so barring higher res pics of the engine, I (got lucky and) stand by the claim of 77.It's probably a 77 then but I believe it was built in late 76.Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/57917-my-new-1976-280z-project/?&page=3#findComment-522996 Share on other sites

June 13, 20177 yr comment_523000 I bet that's about right. Late 76 build. Sloped rear deck, and titled (at least it should be)Â as a 77. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/57917-my-new-1976-280z-project/?&page=3#findComment-523000 Share on other sites

June 13, 20177 yr comment_523002 If the recall was fixed there'll be a sticker on the underside of the hood, passenger side. Â But it's not the original hood? June 13, 20177 yr Author comment_523043 Update: changed the oil, oil filter and put a battery in it, on acc everything works interior lights, radio etc.. but when I go to start it the volt meter drops to nothing and it shorts it. After trying to start it the acc don't work unless I unplug and re plug the battery then it restarts the cycle. Engine is free, I'm going to start checking grounds and clean them... any advice/help is gladly appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/57917-my-new-1976-280z-project/?&page=3#findComment-523043 Share on other sites
June 14, 20177 yr comment_523044 That's typical of dirty battery connections, or fusible link connections.  The corrosion heats up when current flows and the connection opens up.  It's not a short, it's an open circuit. Clean, and maybe give a little extra crimp to the ends of the fusible links, and the battery connections.  If you have clamp-on cable ends, take them off and clean the copper wire, or just get better cables. Pretty common.  I almost replaced my starter once, even though I knew all about the cable connection problem.
