I see it has the hard plastic cover on the wiper motor as well, wonder when the change to the soft bag happened.

I have four sub 500 vin cars and all left the factory with the hand throtltle but all were removed either at the port or dealer. I have heard some people claim a few could have somehow slipped through and have been left intact. Possibly on a very early car but I find that very hard to believe on a May 1970 production car. Much more likely a prior owner added it.

None-the-less, it's a great feature.

Australian delivered cars had the hand throttle feature up until late 1971 when the console change over occurred.

Here is HS30 01210 which was an Australian car that made it's way over to the UK. You can see it has the dual choke set up.

Yes, Japanese market cars had them too (on manual transmission cars), but that doesn't explain how it would have been installed on a US market car at the factory. I'm not sure if they came on LHD cars in other countries.

A short note on this project. I have decided that this project is not one I want to take on at this time for a number of reasons. I will update the post on the car as it sits in the near future. I hate to see these low number Z’s parted out so I will first offer it to members who have the intention of restoration. I am will to take a loss on the project if a member is serious about restoring this car. Contact me if interested.
