Yeah it's above where the emergency brake pedal would be in American cars.

Theres all kinds of test you can do to them but the easiest is "borrow" one from a running car and plug it up. Maybe somebody close by has a spare? Honestly I wouldn't loan mine in fear of something frying it from a bad ground.

@78280ZXHELP You might want to check with Bill's Datsun Shop in Clackamas to see if they have an ECU. Ask for Jaques. 

 It sounds like it's time to go at all the electrical connections with DeOxit. Everything will work better, even the things that are working now.

yeah car was driver side down at an angle in a ditch with water good possibility it is fried unclear how much was inside if it got to the ECU but thinking that's the route we need to go to check or just advertise it as a possibility and take what he can get from it. what do you think a reasonable asking price is NADA or KBB dont remember which had it listed as 4200 in poor condition with the problems it has we started at 3500 obo or trade.

Cloth interior and an auto with mechanical issues. $3,500 would be great if you can get it. Without being able to drive it I'd be closer to $2,500 but maybe you'll get lucky.

 

yeah it was just a starting point he will never get back what he paid for it without it running but when you have no money to take it to a shop you take what you can get

Well since you have revealed that at least to a certain degree this was car was treated badly. All bets are more or less off. If you truly want to kill a Z let the engine overheat or let the components get wet. Either way not good. But all is no lost. You could convert it to carburetors or deal with a poor running car and electrical gremlins forever, taking into consideration you can even get it started. There is a member on this site that is really good with electronics on these cars. Dave is his name located in Marysville Washington. He is worth a call but if he can help you will have to extract certain parts and send them to him. Maybe he is not too far away you being in Oregon. You could continue throwing parts and frustration at it or you could maybe selling for parts. If it isn't running you will almost give it away to a buyer.
