April 25, 200321 yr comment_35191 well there's a few differences between even the early 240z's dashboards. check www.zhome.com for a detailed explanation. The 260z dash in my opinion is less appealing there almost the same but I prefer the 240z one just me.However you have a 260z shell so I'd suggest keeping a 260z dash in there just because of the grief it will cause you later. Besides if you install Aircon it would be much easier to keep the 260z dash. The main differences is the 240z's instrument cluster cups come out towards the occupant of the car and the 260z's sit a bit flatter. The centre instrument cluster where the radio is. Is fatter on the 260z to accomodate the aircon switches etc... The map reading light is flick down as oppose to the 240z's push in one. The later 260z's instruments had a different font less appealing again in my opinion. If your gonna use a dash in your 260z keep it 260z it will save you alot of headaches and having to explain the difference to any other Z fanatic might drive you nuts. by that I mean telling them why it's got a 240z dash and not 260z dash.Shame nobody else jumped in on this post. April 25, 200321 yr Author comment_35210 Thanks for that.Do you know if the 260Z centre instrument section (radio, heater etc) will fit into the 240Z dash? The reason I ask is that I have picked up a 240Z dash in a pile of Z scrap parts yesterday. April 26, 200321 yr comment_35221 I think you will find the center instrument finisher (vent and control cover panel) is to wide and does not tapper sufficiently to fit into the space on a 240Z dash. The map light that ocuppies the top position in the 240Z is also not compatible with the 260Z finisher. The contour also prevents the fittment of the 260Z map light.cheerssteve:classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/5835-240z-dash-vs-260z-dash/#findComment-35221 Share on other sites
