If you can contact some local enthusiasts, most have sources of spare blocks in good shape they are willing to part with if they know they are going to a good home. I have benefitted over the years from many "donations" of spare parts at no to low cost. Ask the local guys for what they may have in unused storage. I have three transmissions, two blocks and three heads....  the key is local. You don't want to ship a motor or tranny if you can help it.

Keep an eye out for complete cars.  Many old Z's are out there, not running, but still with good parts.  ZX's too.  Any Z or ZX up to 1983 would have an engine, transmission, and rear differential that will swap in to your 240Z.  

I bought a 78 280Z just for the transmission, but the engine is in my car now, and runs great.  It sat for 10 years.  $300 and $100 for towing.  But that was a while ago.
