Almost forgot..

On the hydraulics: do not expect a perfect fit on the brake master, clutch master and clutch slave., all the rods will have different length, you will need to use all the original rods and clevis. otherwise all will bolt in place just fine.

I have just had a look and although the gauges are in the newer dash, there is no harness in there, so I will have to head back out to Zac's and see what I can scrounge. That will need to be a job for later though, as he is not just around the corner from me.

No on the 260 dash, yes it's sacrilege. I would think you could source the correct glove box door and heater controls from Aus or maybe Yahoo auctions out of Japan

Don't have a clue on the orange instrument markings. What does the orange numerated speedo read up to? Also the tachs are different year to year and have different operating methods.

The tach reads up to 8k rpm and he speedo is up to 160mph. The do look factory, ie not messed with.

I think in the later cars maybe the 280zx had orange lettering. I am not sure a 280zx speedo has that shape to the housing. IIRC, In the states the 280zx cars did not have high speeds listed on the speedos because at the time the government didn't want to have them read very high. I think they read to 85mph. The rest of the world might have gotten 160mph units in the 280zx. My other guess would be it has been re-lettered with orange. I sort of doubt that though.

That is so cool. I love that body shape, I would love to build that as a rat rod with a new chassis, but leave the patina exactly like it is!

Here's where my wife's started when she inherited it in 1993 - sitting in the same place of the picture taken in 2017.

No apologies necessary, I love all this stuff. As for finding those in Aus', they are much harder to come by here because they were never sold here. There are some around but mostly they are nice ones someone imported and they are VERY expensive. I just did a search and there are 6 Chevy 3100's for sale in Aus and they range in price from $37k-$87k AUD (so around $27k-$65 USD). That said Z's are super expensive here too with the current advertised 2 seat Z's ranging from $32k to $65k AUD.
