I was wondering how it all comes apart. I will need to do some more research about how to do it properly, as opposed to my usual way of blindly undoing things until it comes apart ? March 7, 20196 yr comment_570262 100 tonne press, acetylene torch and soaked in transmission fluid for three days... barely came out under 60 tonnes of pressure. March 7, 20196 yr comment_570263 Yeah, glowing red and 60 tons seems to be where they decide to let go, but Jeff whatever you do don't be tempted to get the BFH out, all you will do is mushroom one of the ends that you will need to either press it or pull it out. March 7, 20196 yr Author comment_570316 Good to know guys. For now then, I think it can stay where it is, as I just need to get it driving first, then I can worry about a few old bushes later ? March 9, 20196 yr comment_570501 That's right, just a jumper across that blank fuel pump plug in the loom sends power to the pump. Any safety device like your oil pressure detector or if you use a inertia switch, they just go in that jumper loop. An inertia switch would allow the pump to run when the key is on without oil pressure being detected. My own preference is the inertia switch in the jumper loop so the pump runs anytime the key is in the on position. This allows me to pressurize the fuel system before I actually start the car and will cut power to the pump in the event of a crash. The oil pump detector method requires a circuit that will run the pump with the switch in the start position without oil pressure. This thread covers the circuit you need for the oil pump switch method. March 9, 20196 yr comment_570519 Couldn't tell if it was smoking because the key was on or because the battery was connected. A better way to test the wiring before connecting the battery is to measure resistance between the positive cable terminal and the negative cable terminal. A short circuit will show up as low resistance. Then you can go wiggle and disconnect various circuits until the short circuit is found. You can do the same when turning on the key. All circuits should have some resistance.
