Patcon Posted December 8, 2017 Share #13 Posted December 8, 2017 This is where we're at after 2 hours. The salt trucks are evidently currently stuck on the interstate. Started sleeting hard a little while ago. More moisture on the way...
SteveJ Posted December 8, 2017 Share #14 Posted December 8, 2017 1 hour ago, Jeff G 78 said: I was just in New Orleans yesterday and it was getting really cold there. It looks like the whole south is getting hammered. There is supposed to be an endurance race at Barber this weekend and the track is covered in snow and ice. COTA in Texas is in the same boat. Stay safe and warm Cliff. 24 Hours of Lemons is at Road Atlanta this weekend, too. Not a good weekend for endurance racing in the South.
Patcon Posted December 8, 2017 Share #15 Posted December 8, 2017 They sort of blew the forecast. The other day they really were expecting most of it to be in the mountains. Not supposed to accumulate here. One of the few jobs where you can be wrong 30% of the time and still be good at your job
240260280 Posted December 8, 2017 Share #16 Posted December 8, 2017 I took my 72 out for a spin on the street today. Near freezing but no snow.
siteunseen Posted December 8, 2017 Author Share #17 Posted December 8, 2017 I just went on a beer run and the roads are beginning to freeze here. The snow has moved on though. Yeah Patcon, the weather girls are pretty to look at but that's it. I believe that's all they need but then Al Roker???
rturbo 930 Posted December 8, 2017 Share #18 Posted December 8, 2017 I heard earlier today that you all down south got some snow. Must be a rarity for you guys. We're supposed to get some snow here tomorrow, probably from the same storm, I bet. Looks like driving season's over.
SteveJ Posted December 9, 2017 Share #19 Posted December 9, 2017 Yes, it's still snowing in my neck of the woods. I'll have to shovel my driveway and front walk since they aren't in the sun. Otherwise, almost all of it will be gone by Monday.
240260280 Posted December 9, 2017 Share #20 Posted December 9, 2017 A few years ago in the moonlight. I could hear it rusting.
Captain Obvious Posted December 9, 2017 Share #21 Posted December 9, 2017 They brined the roads yesterday here in the Philadelphia area. Fun car driving season is officially over for me until the roads are clean in the spring. Bummer part for me is that it ended with a whimper. I was out with the Z a week or so ago and blew a coolant hose. Limped home and parked it. Didn't get to fixing it yet, so I even lost the last week of "drivability". Missed my chance for a last hurrah of the season. And it just started snowing here in the last five minutes. Sigh.
rcb280z Posted December 9, 2017 Share #22 Posted December 9, 2017 Hell's freezing over. Or it really is "hell" Wish I had snow instead of this. Thank God it stayed north of us by 8 miles. 3rd pic is the next day. Its the Thomas fire, burning 148,000 acres so far. Been burning since Monday. Send some of that snow this way
siteunseen Posted December 9, 2017 Author Share #23 Posted December 9, 2017 Ew, that looks bad. Glad it missed you but feel bad for those it didn't. Wonder when they'll start spending money on things that matter like changing the weather by cloud seeding? Oh wait, we need to go to Mars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_seeding
rcb280z Posted December 9, 2017 Share #24 Posted December 9, 2017 Yeah crazy huh? 500 structures so far. Most of them are homes. Its heart breaking to see it up close.
