Need advice on testing and repair of 1977 280z tach. Mine has beemn stuck at 3000 rpm and did not move at all. I have it out of the dash and need advice about how to test and or repair.  Thanks, JCB

http://www.hampspeedometer.com/. Don't know how far away you are from Atlanta but several told they have used his services with satifactory results.

Sure, anytime. I'm actually looking at replacing as many of mine as possible. The look is cool but the technology will just get more and more dated and unuseable.

 

I personally just replaced mine om 77 with a 5 inch digital tach works great mind you I had to do some mods to make it fit but it wasn't hard

I think it was a auto meter but don't think the brand would change much and all I did was use a old extra stock mounting cage I had from dead speedometer or tach the both the same and used a dremel tool cut out the back of said cage but leave the stock mounting holes and a fix the new tach in that cage then remount it as it did in the first place took me a couple hrs you just need to be a little crafty is all.

Be sure to look at where your for the tachometer comes from I can't Remeber if a stock ignition will work I have a electronic one and optic distributor . Something to look into
