Hello....New to the site, hope this right page to ask the experts. So....I picked up a winter project. 1972 240z, that has been sitting for 35 years, a "barn find". I have had a few in my day and have been looking for a survivor. The car is all original matching numbers and mostly complete and 98% rust free. But it is ugly, a diamond in the rough. Anyhow.... This car has a "factory"? electric sliding moon roof, ( no glass-metal). I have never seen this before! I know you think I am an idiot all ready, I am serious this car has one and it sure looks factory to me. I don't think a dealer could have done this. it looks to good. IS THIS POSSIBLE??? I know you will want pictures, let me get my bearings on the site and I will post. The top is easy to photo, but I will need to take out the headliner to see the motor and slide rail. This will take me some time, I am trying to save what I can. Any thoughts?.....Harper

I think I saw a post on here, or on HybridZ, from someone removing a sunroof very much like that. Looked very factory. But as far as I know, Zs simply were not available with a sunroof.

It is not a sun roof, solid metal can't see through it.

I think you've got your terms backwards here. That's a sunroof. A moon roof is typically tinted glass like you see on a lot of newer cars.

Sunroof,  Moonroof, Hole over your head, whatever,  is relative to the time of day it's in use.   Was not a factory option.  However it does look much better than the aftermarket hack jobs that were common in that time period.  The Question is,  Does it Leak?

Sunroof= opens to the air/sun for daytime fun.
Moonroof=glass partition to atmosphere/night sky without opening ability
T-roof= transition roof, transitions from sunroof to moonroof with installation of glass panels.
Hole over your head= redneck attempt at a sunroof....
LOL
