Fairlady Z Parts

I got a mesh grill just a few months ago from www.nismoparts.com I don't know if they still have them or not, so you'll have to ask them.

Click on catalog on their main page and enter a search for part number 62300-N3000, it is listed as available for 110, but that doesn't guarantee it is still available.

The mirrors are NLA, but I know of one supplier who can get a few sets if you want to spend $385.00 for a new pair...:cross-eye

I hope you were sitting down when you read that.:disappoin

MSA has the "Spook" front airdam in their latest catalog, so they may be your best choice for that, they have either the ducted or non-ducted listed for $104.95

If you really have to have the fender mirrors, PM me and I'll give you the part numbers and the supplier who said they could get them....:ermm:

That's probably the "Fairlady Z" look you are after, as the Fairlady ZG didn't have a mesh grille ( or indeed any grille ).

The reason for the extremely high Dollar prices of parts like the mirrors is that the dealers and others who are selling them now are just buying them at RETAIL prices from Japan. Some Japanese specialists have limited supplies of deadstock / NOS parts, and its also still possible to find NOS parts being sold privately by owners who bought them in the past and did not use them. The going prices for these items are gradually increasing in Japan, and when you pay Dollars it makes them look extremely expensive ( especially if you pay in $AUS ). I pay in £STG, which has a supposedly better exchange rate, but I still find buying parts in Japan painful.

The Japanese over-the-counter prices have always been higher than in other territories, as Nissan - along with many other companies - set their retail prices to suit the market that they are selling in. If they did not do this, they would never sell anything at all in markets such as Africa and South America. Even though the parts are made in Japan, Japan still has the highest retail prices.

Mesh grilles, 'fender-mount' mirrors and Fairlady emblems are all still available in Japan - but they are expensive. Some of the 'official' dealers in the USA are able to get occasional supply of items like the grilles, and when they do they get the advantage of the market-adjusted prices on them. If you bought the same item in Japan it would be more expensive................

Ironically, some parts sold in the USA have for many years been finding their way back to Japan. Some Japanese owners noticed that the USA prices on certain items were cheaper than the Japanese prices - even when including shipping and duty - and made small orders with companies such as TWEEKS and MSA etc.

Best place for anyone without Japanese connections to look for these kinds of items is still on the net. The auction sites are a bit hit and miss but more and more people are seeing the interest in these pieces and are filling the gap. Prices are always going to be painful...............

Fender flares are available through Classic Datsun Motorsports (www.classicdatsun.com). MSA offers the same, but Les from Classic is the supplier to MSA; therefore cheaper through him.

The fender mount mirrors (chrome)are now available through MSA, but they are not the same quality as original. Les at Classic does have a high quality set, but for more $.

Also, Courtesy Nissan (www.courtesyparts.com) has a set of flat black mirrors ($180.00/set).

I bought the flares from Les, and the mirrors from MSA. Like you, I want the Fairlady look.

Someone posted a pic from the MSA show last week, and coined the phrase "Fairlady Poser". I hate the fact that the shoe fits.:ermm:

It doesn't bother me to "botch" up my '77, because it's a 77. Don't know if yours is a 240, but if it is, and it's sweet, make sure you want to do it, before you do it.:finger:

my opinion.

Hello MDyer, I am reading this very late in the game, but I was that one that posted the pic of the beautiful 240z that I called a 240z poser(I changed the pic name). I was not trying to be negative, but I can see how one would think that. So if I came off wrong I am sorry. I don't want anyone to feel bad.

Anyways, my goal is to do exactly what you are doing to your car. Making it a kick a$$ Z that has Fairlady Z touches!!! Let the botching begin. Maybe we can talk some time about Fairlady Z's and what we are planning to do to our cars. Just pm me. Your car is looking great too.

take care,

Ben
