Put carbs on Blue

Took the Z back apart last year to re-align the body panels. Finished putting the front sheet metal, lights, bumper, and original BRE front spook on today. Installed nutserts in the valance this time for ease of trailering, also installed the JDM grill I picked up on Yahoo Japan recently. I had to modify the mounting points, but overall it was an easy upgrade. 

Blue started on the first crank!

But I forgot to install Throttle return springs so it raced quite quickly with an amazing front fire blast of flame.  It seemed angry.

 

Off to the hardware store to get springs.

Here's a good source for information on everything Z for a car like yours.  From a reputable guy so I've heard.  http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/. ?

Springs installed. Just ran it for 20min.  Timing, coolant, oil all working fine.  The only problem is that the key does not crank the starter. I'll have to look around.

I used a Facet pump rated 3.5 to 4psi.  Rear carb began to overflow so I connected a Mr Gasket fuel pressure  regulator and of course it leaked.... made in China.  I'll have to get a real FPR.

I'd like to install a mechanical pump but the head would need the pump port drilled open, not an "on-the-car" job.

I'll get back at it tomorrow. Drain tank, change oil etc.

I've got the steel or chrome sided one from Nissan part number in my 240 file. The dealerships still can get them if you want it.

Sean at Zstory supplies the gasket. Worked well in the first header. These headers have massive flanges and seal up great.

Hoping to have it ready for the cat show at the Vintage Races this weekend.

Did a few things this evening after work:

 

Drained the gas tank...looks like a nice dark ale. Vintage 2007.

 

Removed carpets, removed the the tar barrier from the floor pans, vacuumed the interior and test fitted a BMW seat.... comfy!

 

Looked at the past good old days before 2006 turned my life upside down.

 

Good ol' Blue
