March 18, 20187 yr Author comment_544905 That’s an ancient CB radio mounted to the right of the Shifter... I have yet to examine the speaker on the left. ha, I’m sure I will find lots of “extras” I will have to shuck. With the pictures of the front and rear of the car, can you guys tell me if it appears to be an Early or 74.5/75? I’ve read you can tell by the placement of turn signals/parking lights, and the where the reverse lights are in the taillight assembly. I’m still in the “trying to identify” what exactly I Purchased... March 18, 20187 yr comment_544910 From the bigger bumpers, it is what is considered in north america to be a late 260. 5 of 74 is nearing the end of the 74 model year and they were gearing up for the introduction of the 280z for 75. March 18, 20187 yr comment_544912 That's an early 260Z, guys. It has small bumpers, 240Z style turn signals, and bumper indents on the rear quarter panels. March 19, 20187 yr Author comment_544916 from what I’ve read, I thought it was an early one, because of the lights, and I have read that 8/74 was the beginning or the 74.5... BUUUT, I knew y’all would know. so I didn’t assume anything. March 19, 20187 yr comment_544921 I spy with my little eye... Glassed on rear spoiler and glassed in fender flares on the rear? And unless it's the camera angle, it looks like the two sides aren't very symmetric? Might just be the lighting, but it looks like the left rear arch is higher than the right rear? How are you with body work? Oh, and a brick on the floor at the driver's feet. That's never a good sign. Good luck with the father-son project. That's awesome! March 19, 20187 yr comment_544922 Welcome to the Forum. There are a lot of years of knowledge here. I would read as much as possible and never be afraid to ask a question. As far as your car being a black sheep and undesirable??? A car that was in production for only 1 year (here in the US) is not non-collectible in my book. Great job and good buy imho. March 19, 20187 yr Author comment_544927 Oh yeah, Floor pans are holier than the New Testament. Turning wrenches is my strong point, unfortunately, my body work experience is limited to bolting on body panels... but I have a really good friend who owns and runs a body shop... he does great work, so it’s going to be up to me and my son to get it going mechanically, then to him for the body work. Id rather have it professionally done, than try to “learn” on the car I’ve always wanted. March 19, 20187 yr comment_544932 Perfect! Sounds like me. I'd much rather be up to my elbows in anything mechanical or electrical than anything to do with bodywork! March 19, 20187 yr Author comment_544938 I will post a pic of the engine bay as soon as I can, supposedly, the factory carbs were replaced with the Weber versions in the late eighties... I’ve read some of y’all mention “round top” carbs... Can I get a little clarification, and pros and cons? March 19, 20187 yr comment_544969 Actually the factory carbs for your 74 were "Flat Tops". Many people replace them with other carbs like the "Round Tops", or Webers. Which ones are you interested in hearing pros and cons? Because if it involves Webers, I'm not your guy... I know nothing about them.
