Posted March 21, 20187 yr comment_545292 I had a local shop press my rear hubs together and had to take them back because the bearings weren’t seated correctly. The idiot working on it tried to grind down the end of the spacer to make it shorter, so now the end has a gouge out of it. Do I need to worry about this? If so, how can I find a new one? Does anyone have one to spare? Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/59746-need-a-rear-bearing-spacer/ Share on other sites
March 21, 20187 yr comment_545294 Am I wrong here for thinking the shop should be responsible for replacing this? They f'd it up, they need to replace it. March 21, 20187 yr comment_545298 Is that the same as a "race" that comes with front bearings? Getting those down even was a pita on my garage floor. March 21, 20187 yr comment_545303 I bought a great little press for that task. I would correct that spacer personally. March 21, 20187 yr comment_545306 Funny, Nissan labels them A, B, and C in the FSM, but 0, 1, and 2 by part number. Looks like you can still get at least one size though. http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/axle/rear-axle-drive-shaft http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/axle/rear-axle-drive-shaft/10 https://www.nissanpartswebstore.com/p/SPACER-BEARING/51573072/43090E4100.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/59746-need-a-rear-bearing-spacer/#findComment-545306 Share on other sites

Edit: they only have the B version, so I need to find out which one I need from the shop. Actually, I need to get all my parts back and go somewhere else. March 22, 20187 yr comment_545327 Woof... If it's not one thing, it's another! Is this the same shop that bent your control arm? All else fails, I can probably make a new spacer. I can certainly shorten one up if you find you can get the longer length but need something shorter.
