Keep up the progress fstr240, we're pulling hard for you. Good to hear the worst is probably over.....

Ken brought up a good point tho, about the SUVs and trucks stalking the roads, some weighing in at 2 or 3 times more than my comparatively featherweight 2400lb 240....30 year old safety technology/regulations won't stand a chance in a serious crash with the big boys...good thing all Z drivers are so protective of their cars and hopefully themselves, tho no driver, no matter how experienced can control accidents out of their control. Just a thought......everybody can enjoy the ride (us Z and ZX drivers especially), jus be safe so it won't end up in disaster....:ermm:

Some comments have been made about the safety or lack therof in the Z. I think that the accidnet that we see here is a good example of why shorter cars are vulnerable and why side impact is critical. I am glad to say that I have had two Zs protect me from mortal harm. One was a front end impact with a wall and one was an offset frontal impact with another race car. Both times the front end of the car did just what it was supposed to and crumbled to protect me. Sadly there just is not much room to crumble on the sides. Even a modern sports car (or compact car for that matter) can be deadly if you get "t-boned".

Since he looks to have survived ,I am hopeful that the z car was free of any fault and that our fellow z-driver will not be strapped with hospital bills, repair/replacement and all of these concerns out of his won pocket.

get well soon!

Scares the crap out of me too Ken, and you are not exaggerating about the running board either!

Take care Ernie, hope to hear from you soon.

this is andrea, ernie's sister and i am on the phone with him right now from the Hospital, he wishes to share some words with all of you back here at the forum...(im typing it as he speaks)

ERNIE:

"Thank you for all your prayers, concerns and thoughts. My sister was able to print them out and send all your support to me here at that hospital. It was inspiring to hear from the Zclub and I truly appreciate all your endless support.

Looks like I will be out of the hospital on wednesday but will have to take it easy for a couple of months. I am very grateful to still to be alive but i still feel bad for my car. hearing from all your guys made me feel better and made it easier for me to cope with the sentimential lost of my precious 240Z. I really respect this club, not only is there so much knowledge theres also alot of commodary, you can post a question without criticism and almost allows get a good (right) answer.

Thank you all!

ps. i'll probably have my 280Z to drive around, and in couple of years I have to have that 240Z."
