upholstery PAINT???

Alrighty, don't get me wrong. I'm sure that "Butterscotch" was the height of fashion back in '73, and it looked alright when paired with my original green paint. But now my z is yellow and I'm looking to go black inside. The daimond vinyl is in exceptionally good shape, and I'd rather not pay a fortune to replace it. Soooo, my question is regarding these upholstery spray paints I've seen. Any feedback on whether these will cut the mustard for vinyl interior, or am I stuck with the clash, or a hefty replacment bill?

I used black vinyl dye/paint on my old 240z (it was originally metallic Green with tan interior) on all the vinyl parts and it turned out great. I think i even used it on the plastic interior pannels also.

I only recently discovered that my car (originally #113 green) didn't come with a black interior like it had when I bought it. It was silver at that time so one of the previous owners also took the dye route. I would have never known the difference.

Can anyone name the brand of dye/paint they have used?

I haven't used it myself, but Les at Classic Datsun Motorsports reccomended S E M brand dye for interior panels when i was considering buying his panels which only come in black & I wanted to make them White.

Works fantastic. Turned my yellowing-original white/cream to a brand new black. I was impressed, my friends were stunned. There are others on the market that also work well, but S E M is primo.

:classic: I just bought some , came highly recommended to me by escanlon , however he said that to get the best results to be sure to get SEM cleaner . From what he said it is secound to none. The paint store was out of it when I was in there so I cant give you any numbers. They have vinyl prep , plastic prep . There is also a flexable bonding clear, I don't know about this stuff. Like anything else prep is the key. My 2c:classic:
