Same here, I love that diagram, I'm in the midst of overhauling the wiring harness right now on my 77 280 and it is the real deal.  Thanks for all that hard work.

Just got the wheels back from the sand blasters,  not easy finding a 14" stock looking tire with a modern tread design and quiet on the hwy.    I settled on a set of P195/70 R14 Hankook Optimo, they seem to fit the bill.

The 280 is up on the rotisserie now, cleaning up some of the previous guys welding work, only about 1/3rd into the undercoat scraping

Underneath the crud is a cream coloured coating and bare metal underneath that, can anyone tell me exactly what that is, 2k primer, single primer, paint?  The last pic is a scraper I made out of an old carpet knife, I sharpened the outer edge as well as the inner and it allows you to get into most of the curves and crevices, wish I had thought of this years ago.

That looks sooooooo familiar! That is single stage primer I believe. It’s under everything.

Will it come off with lacquer thinner? If it does, it's single stage. If it doesn't it's probably a 2k primer. I wouldn't expect epoxy. What type I don't know, but from my experience it seems to stick  pretty good.

Mine didn’t come off with thinner or isopropyl. Must be a 2K primer.

MEK would be the better solvent.  The MEK rub test is an actual coatings test, to assess degree of cure of 2K type coatings.

It's a people-power test but they've tried to make a machine for it.  A look in to the world of paint.

OK so I just did the rub test with MEK, the cream coloured coating is definitely 2 part epoxy primer, I rubbed hard and nothing came away on the cloth but the last remnants of the undercoating. Thanks all.

Well, I had no intention on painting this car much less going down to bare metal but... here I am. Someone in the past filled in the antenna hole and drilled another one and then that was filled in as well, so which is the stock hole?  I thought at first it was the front one but I don't remember cutting into the bodyline like that.
