haha, yeah but the house helps set the era of the photo of the car. I'm also in the market to buy a house so can't help it. :)

Got the block and an E88 head back from the machine shop.  The block only needed to be honed which is nice.  The head was cleaned, pressure and leak checked, in addition to the valve job.   I ordered new conn and rod bearings along with new piston rings, gasket kit and brass freeze plugs.  Now the fun begins.  Will start by cleaning that block up and painting it nice and pretty.

FYI, they will have a booth at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion races (formerly the "Monterey Historics") later this month, which for the first time ever will have Datsun/Nissan as the featured mark.  Its also the first time any Asian manufacturer will the featured races.

I found my Silver 1973 restoration thread.  This is hard to look as I really wish I had that one back.  Selling my silver 1973 probably ranks in the top 5 stupid decisions that I have made in my life (Which says a lot since I have made a lot of stupid decisions).  Anyway, here is the tread to give you a bit of preview as to what's ahead.

Motorman, it was this kind of learning experience for you that *I* am now benefiting from.  Although now I'm back to itching to start wrenching something, anything myself....   I'm really quite jealous!

I sold my first 240z back in 2001 (because I had bought another 240z), I still regret it. Learnt my lesson. Never sell them! Hence I've got 4 now lol..

Got the block cleaned up and painted.

What are you using to keep the raised serial # area from rusting, clear coat?

Double check these areas with your fingernail, it looks like some ring-to-wall interaction took place at one time. It could be simply lighting in the photo
