July 6, 20186 yr comment_552473 You’ll soon find out if it’s good or not when you have it rebuilt. ? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/60330-good-head/#findComment-552473 Share on other sites
July 6, 20186 yr comment_552476 What's up with all of the missing rocker arms? Spendy to replace if they're not in the box. And the camshaft is falling out. Movement during transit? Doesn't look terrible. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/60330-good-head/#findComment-552476 Share on other sites
July 6, 20186 yr comment_552477 Just to add - the head itself can get new valve guides so if it's not cracked you'll be fine, probably. That camshaft is probably good also, the surface rust isn't bad. Also just noticed an anti-rattle spring hanging of the head in the first picture. So you probably have all of the parts BUT you won't know which rocker goes with which cam lobe, assuming that they fell off in transit. That might or might not be a problem. Probably depends on the wear of the rocker arm lash pad. Endless discussion... July 6, 20186 yr comment_552479 It looks good but you need to have a machinist check it out. Chuck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/60330-good-head/#findComment-552479 Share on other sites
July 6, 20186 yr comment_552481 Looks good.....very little electrolysis damage on water inlets. Rockers can be sent to Delta Cams for refurbishing, cam to Isky. The head will come back from the machine shop looking like new. Says he's about to crush the car. I think I can offer him $100 and pull the head myself. It'll need rebuilding for sure. If you don't mind sharing what you gave for that one I'd appreciate it. Trying to figure out if its worth my time. I was thinking i could resale it for $500 maybe. Private message me if you'd rather. thank you. It's a pile of crap, sun burnt from one end the the other. Luckily the hood was down and what's left of the motor, pretty much just the short block, is rebuildable. All the rubber and plastic is ruined and the sunroof is missing. Along with all the other glass. If I do this I'll get a better look but I don't think anything's there, sorry. July 10, 20186 yr comment_552758 @siteunseen pretty much any N42 head is worth taking a $100 chance, even sight unseen. See what I did there? Always the chance that it is irreparably warped but....worth the chance in my opinion. I should add that I have about 15 z heads in my basement so maybe I am a bit biased on this topic.
