Looks like an adapter was installed on the firewall. Perhaps to line linkage up. Mine is at an angle (not ideal) and need to come up with something like that.

I have extra a shortened link like that I made as an experiment. You can have it if I can find it.

I would like that a lot if you could find it. Thanks.

Lokar has everything you'll need to switch to cable, good quality but pricey, it starts on p.45 and goes on for a few pages.

Thanks. If I can not get the linkage to work I will try and figure out what I need from that site.  I know I am going to need at least a new pedal, cable, bell crank and some way to mount all this stuff. I tried looking at it yesterday and did not have a good way on how I would convert to throttle cable and get the full range of motion for the carbs.

A friend of mine who builds race engines  recommended Loctite 492147 640 High Strength Sleeve Retainer Bottle, 36-milliliter. He said it would make it permanent

Adds up to 3,000 psi holding power

I don't really ever use the super heavy duty loctites for anything. If I want it permanent, I do it another way.

For a lokar cable, you can reuse the factory pedal

For now if it were mine I think I would pull apart and fill with a good epoxy for metal and push back together. Then I would take a hammer

with a pointed punch and wack that sleeve on each end. I don't think it would twist inside after that.
