Posted May 10, 200321 yr comment_36910 Went to the office for a couple of minutes this morning. Came out, got in, started normally. About a mile down the road, going up a grade, everything died, sputtering, nursed it along until I could safely get it over to the side. Fuel filter almost empty. No more fuel being pulled in. Looks like another short downtime.Oh. I didn't mention that this was in a driving rain storm. Great Saturday Morning. May 11, 200321 yr comment_36963 Same thing just happened to me. Wife towed me back home 7 miles on dirt roads with a 15 foot tow rope. THAT was exciting! Turned out my tank has plenty of varnish from sitting for 20 years and the varnish clogged my electric pump filter. I imagine it will happen a few more times at least, so I carry my tools and spare filter. Good luck. Victor. May 13, 200321 yr comment_37181 It must be in the weather , I just posted this . The fuel pump from a RX-7 that is NOT INJECTED works great I got mine from a '79 . $15.00 but be sure that the RX was not injected most important. :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6088-fuel-pump-died/#findComment-37181 Share on other sites
May 15, 200321 yr Author comment_37470 I don't know what the hell happened, but the fuel system checked out fine and it starts without problem now. :classic: Oh well , got a badly pulling right rear brake drum turned, so I can now hit my brakes without fear of swinging in to the lane to the right of me.
