May 10, 200321 yr comment_36926 Looks like that car has had some work done. The Z emblem on the hood is in the wrong spot. From that, I also see bumpers that were used on the 240z. (the 280z used larger bumpers causing them to stick way out from the car) From that view, it certainly "looks" like a 240z.But, since the body is the same from the 240z, 260z, and 280z, it's almost impossible to tell for sure. Can you give us more information? Ie: Does it have fuel injection, carbs (round or flat top), what's the VIN, etc... May 10, 200321 yr comment_36927 Also ask the owner why the emblem has been relocated (hit a deer?) and how come the bumper rubber is missing. May 10, 200321 yr comment_36928 The thin bumpers, front turn signals, and "DATSUN" emblem on the side indicate that it's a 240Z. While any of those could have been changed, a 280Z would have a 280Z emblem on the side. A VIN could be the proper way to determine the model. I don't think that's the emblem. It looks like there's one one each side. I they're those things to keep the hood locked down. Not that a Z hood would come open while racing. The emblem on the side (fender emblem) looks like it says more than "Datsun" but I can't read what it says.also the hood isn't closed on the thing, I wonder if it can be closed. I wonder if the "little dent in the tip of the hood" has messed it up so that it can't close? May 10, 200321 yr comment_36938 How much does the owner want for it and what are your expectations for the car. If it has little or no rust you might be able to overlook a few imperfections. I would not worry much about things that you can easily fix. Check for rust on or near the battery tray, the spare tire and door sils underneath trim. If you are unfamiliar, carbs can be a pain to rebuild and set up. My 2cents. May 10, 200321 yr comment_36939 I agree with MikeW, those arent badges on the hood, there bonnet clips on either side to keep the bonnet down... There is definately soemthing wrong with the bonnet if he needs to use those.. As you can see from the pic, the bonnet still doesnt close properly, which makes me suspect that this car has been involved in an accident at some time or another.
