motorman7 Posted October 12, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted October 12, 2018 Now it is more reasonably priced, was $22K. The engine bay is pretty impressive on this one

Zed Head Posted October 12, 2018 Share #5 Posted October 12, 2018 Congrats, you made sure that it will last much more than a day. Probably months or years now. Greedy. Looks like it's between a 4 and a 3. https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1970-datsun-240z https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/Classifications-and-Conditions I thought SD was South Dakota. Zed Head Posted October 12, 2018 Share #6 Posted October 12, 2018 This might be a clue - "California Datsun Series one 240z justice." Beware... "I will send more photos to interested parties, but pictures do not do this original California Datsun Series one 240z justice."
wheee! Posted October 12, 2018 Share #7 Posted October 12, 2018 I don't think the reference was to "California Datsun"... more that it was a California model Datsun series one
Zed Head Posted October 12, 2018 Share #8 Posted October 12, 2018 But what's happened, with the price bloat, fits the model. Kidding, but not kidding. Wouldn't be a surprise if URGELIS was behind it.

You think that that car is almost to Excellent level. Pump, pump, pump it up... (90's flashback). Edited October 12, 2018 by Zed Head
motorman7 Posted October 12, 2018 Author Share #11 Posted October 12, 2018 (edited) I like the fact that the engine has not been messed with (much) and the 77K miles is probably legit based on the engine pic. Also looks very original except for a few minor details. (Granted the over all body pics and underside pics are poor and would effect the value) This is exactly the type of car that I look for when doing a restoration. It would be worse if it had a cheap $1K paint job and looked pretty pretending to be a Category 2, hiding what is underneath. Too often this is what is sold in most cases. I rarely buy a pretty face. I want a complete, hardly touched package complete with warts. And Hagerty is so out of touch with the Z community. There are 1970 Z's selling for $100k and over among private parties. Let them value the US muscle cars; because they are a bit behind the times with the Japanese cars. Edited October 12, 2018 by motorman7
