Posted November 2, 20186 yr comment_560808 Ever since Sung Kang’s “Fugu Z” won Best of Show, Datsuns have been increasingly prevalent at SEMA, the biggest aftermarket trade show in the world. In fact, the number of classic Zs handily outnumber new ones, and Nissan even brought … Continue reading → Read more at JNC Magazine Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61019-jnc-sema-2018-the-zs-of-sema-offered-without-comment/ Share on other sites
November 2, 20186 yr comment_560810 Yes. When is a Z no longer a Z? I don't like all the struts on the aero devices either! Overall, I would say "poor taste of bling". November 2, 20186 yr comment_560811 Whoa, some of those are pretty far down the rabbit hole, more bling than brains. But I kind of like the baby blue Z with the V10, remove the diffuser and find a hood for it and that could be a sweet ride. November 2, 20186 yr comment_560817 SEMA is all about getting attention for the vendors, drawing a crowd (and media buzz, too). That means outdoing what’s been done before, which leads to some pretty bizarre results. Where it used to be a trade show that showcased products, the public’s digital access has turned it into a circus. November 2, 20186 yr comment_560819 I believe the light blue Z with the BMW V-10 is from Portland. I sold the builder a drivers door a few weeks ago so he could get it ready for the show. He said the chassis had been crumpled in his shop earlier when a new tow truck driver let a Mercedes roll off the flatbed right into the Z chassis. Smashed the rear of the Z as well as the front when it was pushed into the workbench. A complete tube frame and all BMW running gear front to rear in that one. November 2, 20186 yr comment_560830 FYI the blue Z with V10 was built on a youtube channel called B is for Build. And it was a bit of a disaster. I had to tune out early on. I don't know if he eventually figured out what he was doing and made a decent car, but I'm guessing the overall build quality and design is lacking. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl4-WBRqWA2MlxmZorKOV7w The bottom one is a really impressive, very high quality tube chassis car with carbon panels. It's not really a Z anymore, but it's cool. The original chassis ended up being junk, and it just sort of transformed from there. Here's his website: https://attackingtheclock.com/ The grey one I really don't care for. It used to be a fairly nice looking Z, that he stripped down and turned into what you see there, which I find aesthetically displeasing. For those of you who do instagram, you can find more pictures here: https://www.instagram.com/kckuhnhausen/ The one second from bottom I believe is this one. I actually like it, although I suspect it won't get as much love here as it would on HybridZ: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61019-jnc-sema-2018-the-zs-of-sema-offered-without-comment/#findComment-560830 Share on other sites
