Posted November 26, 20186 yr comment_562448 I'm still unsure when my 71 was built, I understand that the early 71's had vents on the back hatch. Mine doesn't have them, I'm sure it's the original hatch, the color matches the rest of the interior paint. Were there ever vents on the rear quarters VIN HLS30-41253 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61153-vin-verification/ Share on other sites

November 26, 20186 yr comment_562452 The cars commonly referred to as Series 1 were built into late January, 1971. There were approximately 20,500 of them. These cars had the vents in the hatch. Beginning in February, cars referred to as Series 2 had the vents relocated to the sail panel behind the quarter window. According to cars registered on Carl Beck's site zhome.com, your car was built in 08/1971. November 26, 20186 yr comment_562465 Yes, those were vents. Your car is a series two, there is no chance it is a series one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61153-vin-verification/#findComment-562465 Share on other sites
November 26, 20186 yr comment_562471 You're picture is where the side pillar round vents go. Google image series one and two. You'll see the difference. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61153-vin-verification/#findComment-562471 Share on other sites
November 27, 20186 yr Author comment_562485 I Kinda thought so, I will have to measure for the exact location and drill a new hole in a new patch. Good thing my son is in Paint & Body for a living.
