Manifold balance tube

I understand there is an intake mainfold balance or cross-over tube that does not have the standard emissions mounting stuff in the casting. This is for an early 1970 setup and the brake vacuum fitting comes out the back end of the tube. I understand it comes from Australia. Would like one. I am using a mechanical advance dual point distributor.

I couldn't find a really good picture, but my US 11/69 car has the brake vacuum out the back of the balance tube. There are some emission fittings on the tube, though, that the PO has hacked at. The air pump is missing from the car. Pic attached if it does you any good.

The picture that shows the rear of the balance tube appears to show the model number of the balance tube that you need. It looks like it says "E46 JAPAN". The E46 is the model n umber ofthe balance tube. Refer to that number to describe what you are looking for, and explain the location of the barake vac fitting.

Just to help carify what you need for your car.

good luck in your search!

Carl

This is a picture of my setup located in Australia. This is the common setup that i have seen around these parts.

The brake vacumm hose goes into the top at the back of the balance pipe.

Hope this helps.

You're right, Bambi. I hadn't noticed that. I just went out and looked, and it certainly does say E46. And in fact, if you look in the parts microfiche, the only balance tube listed from inception through 8/72 is part number 14008-E4601. Must be where the E46 comes from. In the fiche, however, there is a plug shown where the brake Mastervac vacuum connector is on my car. I don't see that fitting anywhere in the fiche yet. I'll look in the brake section next.

Yup - the variation seems to be in the brake fittings. The parts fiche lists 11 different parts for the vacuum fitting with the first change on 4/70. There are a bunch of hose combinations too. Looks like one balance tube, but different combinations of fittings and hoses for the MasterVac connection to the balance tube.

Hi Zedrally

Strut Bars come from Z Car Shop in Brisbane.

The yellow was chosen over another colour called rust!!!:sleepy:

After a fire in the engine bay, everything started to turn a lighter shade of red.

It was quick thinking to reach for the spray can as I was (and still am) too broke for chrome.

It started to work out well with a green car and yellow everything else, it is becoming an Aussie icon:cheeky:

Just got to maintain the colour but one of the great things is it shows up any oil quick smart. Gives me plenty of incentive to keep the oil on the inside of the engine:D
