Posted December 31, 20186 yr comment_564893 Hi guys im wondering if any of you know the function of the metal bracket that is held in by the oil pan bolts on the driver side? It has a metal heat shield or something that is attached on the bracket. Im currently trying to fit my header on but the heat shield is in the way. Is it okay to remove it? any use for it? thanks for any help Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61328-oil-pan-metal-bracket-heat-shield/ Share on other sites
December 31, 20186 yr comment_564905 You could possibly bend it up, flatten it a bit, it is keeping the oil pan gasket from getting too hot and burning but then I've seen many cars where that flange has rusted away without any problems. December 31, 20186 yr Author comment_564946 Yeah looks like I’m gonna try to keep it there but will probably see how I can clear the shield from the header . Thx for tip Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61328-oil-pan-metal-bracket-heat-shield/#findComment-564946 Share on other sites
January 1, 20196 yr comment_564950 Mine worked with MSA's 6 to one ceramic header but I did have to trim some off the transmission's extra bulk so it wouldn't touch and rattle. Not a big deal but I'm going by my header, no idea what you have. Good luck.
