Well I just put some brand new tires on. They rub in the back. They are 215/60/14. Is it just me or does it seem insane that they would rub? Should I send them back? I heard that you could do something with the wheel well to give some extra space. It involves bending the lip back. Any ideas? So much for getting the Tokico struts ect. that would lower it an inch and I don't have an inch. Why does this $^!# always happen to me?

thats strange, i used to run 215 65 14's and they didnt rub. where are they rubbing? on the guards or inside the wheel well? if its on the guards, then you almost definatly have the wrong offset wheels, as you can get a 225 under there with no dramas. if its rubbing inside the wheel well then just how low is your car?

15 years ago I let a tire dealer replace the 185/70's I had with 195/70's. They rubbed whenever I hit a big bump. I put up with it for a bit but after graduating from college and buying a new car I let the 240Z sit unused. I've now replaced the springs with Tokicos and, at least at the shop, the right height looks ok. I'm guessing that my old springs were just sagging. You may have the same problem.

Since my tires are 15 years old I'm planning on replacing them - probably with 205/60 or 225/60. We'll see how that works out.

I have the origanal crappy springs ect. It only happens when I hit bumps. As for the wheels, they are a 0 offset.

Luckily the springs aren't all that expensive. MSA sells 4 Tokico springs for US$229.

If I put on new Tokico shocks, springs... that will stiffen up my ride. That will help, but it will also drop it an inch.

then your car would already be sitting lower than usual with the original springs. if you get springs that are to lower the car an inch from stock ride hide you might find the car could actually go even higher, because your springs have sagged so much. going to stiffer springs and shocks, you should be able to keep your current ride hight and stop the rubbing becouse your setup wont compress as much over bumps as the saggy old setup
